How big can my art be on a hat?

When it comes to embroidering artwork on a hat, size and placement are key considerations to ensure your design looks its best. At Oregon Screen Impressions, we offer various options for maximizing the visibility and impact of your custom hat design.

Popular Locations and Sizes:

  1. Front Center:

    • Maximum height: 2.2 inches
    • Maximum width: 5 inches
  1. Front Eye Side (Ear Side):

    • Maximum dimensions: 2.2 inches high by 2.7 inches wide
  1. Back - Above the Arch of an Adjustable Cap:

    • Popular for adding small logos or text
  1. Right and Left Sides of the Hat:

    • Ideal for additional branding or smaller designs

Limitations:

  • We cannot embroider on the bill of the hat or above the eyelets on the top of the hat crown.
  • For snapback style hats, we can’t embroider directly to the left of the snapback mechanism.
  • The design must be at least 0.5 inches away from the bill of the hat.
  • Text should be at least 0.25 inches in height to ensure clarity.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Simplicity: Simpler designs often translate better in embroidery, especially on less structured hats like dad hats.
  • Detailing: Tiny details can be challenging to render. The smallest details that can be stitched are about 0.04 inches (1mm), and the smallest gaps that can be maintained are 0.01 inches (0.25mm).
